Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks, and flatbeds with a Moffitt in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws
- Load and unload waste materials efficiently using appropriate equipment like front-end loaders or roll-off containers
- Follow established routes for municipal waste collection while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including checking air brakes and mechanical systems, to ensure optimal operation and compliance with safety standards
- Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, route completion, and vehicle maintenance reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries professionally while maintaining a positive attitude during outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Requirements
- Valid CDL B license with necessary endorsements for air brakes and hazardous materials regulations where applicable
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks such as garbage trucks, dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or flatbeds in a commercial setting
- Solid understanding of traffic laws, DOT regulations, and safety protocols for heavy vehicle operation
- Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance checks on trucks
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling waste containers or equipment loads
- Prior experience with route driving, load & unload procedures, and municipal waste management preferred
- Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence and hazard awareness during outdoor work activities
- Excellent driving record with defensive driving skills demonstrated through safe driving practices
