Job Summary

Duties
- Conduct comprehensive research using public records, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and other sources to verify land ownership, rights-of-way, easements, and legal descriptions.
- Review and process real estate documentation including titles, deeds, leases, and legal descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
- Prepare and negotiate right-of-way agreements and easements with landowners, ensuring clear communication of project needs while maintaining positive relationships.
- Map property boundaries and rights using mapping software to support project planning and land acquisition strategies.
- Collaborate with legal teams to review title reports, identify potential issues, and facilitate resolution in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain detailed records of land transactions, legal descriptions, public records searches, and correspondence for audit readiness.
- Support project teams by providing accurate land data, assisting in title review processes, and ensuring adherence to real estate law and company standards.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Landman or Surface Landman within the energy or real estate sectors is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of right-of-way processes, easements, title processing, and real estate law.
- Familiarity with GIS mapping software and other mapping tools used for property boundary analysis.
- Experience reviewing titles, legal descriptions, public records searches, and real estate documentation.
- Ability to interpret legal descriptions accurately and adhere strictly to underwriting guidelines.
- Excellent research skills combined with a customer service mindset when engaging with landowners or external stakeholders.
- Previous law office experience or similar roles that involve detailed document review is a plus.
