Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal with a healthcare background to join our legal team. We are a litigation firm practicing medical malpractice defense, defending doctors, hospital personnel, hospitals and clinics. This dynamic role combines legal support with a strong understanding of medical and patient care documentation. The ideal candidate will possess critical care, nursing home, hospital, or ICU experience, along with knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. As a Nurse Paralegal, you will assist in managing medical records, and ensuring compliance with privacy standards while supporting law office operations related to healthcare cases. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your clinical expertise within a legal environment that values precision, confidentiality, and proactive problem-solving.
Duties
- Review and organize medical records, including patient histories, treatment notes, and discharge summaries for legal cases
- Assist attorneys in preparing litigation documents by extracting relevant medical information and verifying accuracy
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of all patient data
- Support the law office in managing medical documentation workflow and maintaining accurate records
- Participate in case meetings to provide insights on clinical aspects relevant to legal proceedings
Experience
- Background in healthcare settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, or ICU environments with critical care experience
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices and medical records management
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care procedures
- Experience handling sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in document review and data entry
