Mckernan Enterprises is seeking a skilled team member, we are a Central Oregon excavation company that is seeking a career minded knowledgeable team member!
We are seeking an experienced and motivated person that is experienced general labor activities relating to earthwork, grading, utility and pipe installation. Our ideal candidate would have experience and be familiar with mainline pipe support and installation, grading and general labor support to operations. The preferred candidate would also be familiar with residential (subdivisions) land development and public utility work.
Installation and labor support of mainline gravity sewer pipe, ductile iron and PVC water main/services, franchise utility's, grading/compaction activity's and general labor tasks. This will be the primary focus and requirement for the position. Candidate must have experience with construction laboring and/or pipe installation.
This position offers an opportunity to gain experience, training and knowledge at all levels of the trade. Candidates will have opportunity operate off-road trucks, water trucks and other equipment.

The qualified applicant will be expected to work full time with optional and sometimes needed overtime with limited Saturday work on various projects. Project types vary from some public/prevailing wage to site development/infrastructure/commercial work. Applicant would be on different projects in the central Oregon region only! Experience, attitude and flexibility will be key considerations for the position. Please read thru the qualifications below.
Position qualifications and requirements:
2+ years experience in the excavation industry is most preferred
Have and maintain safe work practices and project cleanliness
Must have Valid drivers license and dependable transportation
GPS experience (not required but helpful)
Experience and skill with pipe and grade lasers
Experience and understanding in mainline (sewer/water/storm/franchise utility) pipe laying/mainline trench installation is preferred.
Be willing and skilled with use of shovels, rakes, jumping jacks and hand tools (hot saw/ concrete saw etc.)
Maintain good personal hygiene
Be quality, safety and production minded
Be able to occasionally work overtime and weekends (40-50 hours is typical)
Be willing to help assist with all general labor operations and activity's
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be physically capable and willing of getting in and out of deep excavations/trenches
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
