Cook / Prep Cook Job Summary
The Crab Station – Oyster Bar in Deep Ellum is hiring a dependable and hardworking Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
This position is responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking menu items, maintaining food quality, and keeping the kitchen clean and organized. Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train reliable candidates who are eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, wash, cut, portion, and organize ingredients
- Cook and prepare menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards
- Follow portion sizes, presentation standards, and manager instructions
- Keep food preparation areas, equipment, and kitchen stations clean
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food
- Restock ingredients and supplies as needed
- Assist with washing dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment when needed
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
- Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties
- Work quickly and cooperate with other kitchen staff and management
Qualifications
- Previous cook or prep cook experience is preferred
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Willing to learn and perform different kitchen duties
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Compensation
Starting pay is $12 per hour during the training and probationary period.
Once the employee is fully trained and able to perform the position independently, pay will increase to $14–$16 per hour, depending on cooking skills, speed, work performance, attendance, reliability, and ability to handle assigned responsibilities.
Personal phone use is not permitted while working, except during approved breaks or emergencies.
