Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Technician to join our growing team in the Birmingham market. You will perform precise diagnostic scans, static calibrations, and dynamic calibrations on a wide variety of passenger vehicles. This role requires a strong understanding of collision repair workflows, electrical diagnostics, and OEM repair procedures.
Because we work directly with all major insurance companies, you will also help document calibrations accurately to ensure seamless claim processing for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post-repair diagnostic scans using advanced scan tools.
- Execute static calibrations in a controlled environment using targets, lasers, and radar alignment tools.
- Conduct dynamic road-test calibrations safely following specific OEM criteria.
- Research, read, and strictly follow OEM repair procedures for every unique vehicle year, make, and model.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and repair underlying electrical or mechanical faults preventing successful calibration.
- Document all calibration steps, measurements, digital readouts, and completion certificates for insurance billing verification.
- Maintain calibration equipment, targeting software updates, and shop floor leveling specifications.
- Grow the Birmingham market by visiting local body shops, dealerships, and mechanic shops to pitch our calibration services.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience specifically performing ADAS calibrations or advanced automotive electrical diagnostics.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of radar, LiDAR, sonar, forward-facing cameras, and blind-spot monitoring systems.
- Tool Proficiency: Expertise with major aftermarket diagnostic platforms (e.g., Autel, snap-on) and OEM-specific software.
- Certifications: I-CAR training (specifically ADAS suites) or ASE certifications (A6, A8, or L3) highly preferred.
- Documentation: Ability to write clear, professional vehicle health reports and technical notes.
- Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (essential for dynamic calibrations and mobile service).
