The Critical Care Selector / Ad-Hoc Order Specialist is responsible for accurately selecting, inspecting, and preparing products for customers requiring an enhanced level of quality assurance and service. Through the company's Critical Care Program, this role applies additional time, attention, and care to identify product defects, verify product quality, and ensure customer-specific requirements are met before shipment.
In addition to Critical Care responsibilities, this position manages Ad-Hoc orders, which are non-standard, high-priority, or customer-specific requests that require flexibility, urgency, and cross-functional coordination. The role serves as a key quality checkpoint and customer advocate within the warehouse operation, helping ensure every order meets the highest standards of accuracy, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
Accurately pick products according to customer orders and established warehouse procedures.
Perform detailed visual and physical inspections of products for defects, including damage, cracks, scratches, dents, missing components, packaging defects, labeling inaccuracies, product contamination and expired or short-dated inventory
Verify product quantities, expiration dates, and item specifications.
Ensure products meet all Critical Care Program quality standards before shipment.
Remove, quarantine, and report defective or non-conforming products.
Repackage or relabel products as required to meet customer-specific requirements.
Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and other operational tools to complete transactions accurately.
Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Keep work areas organized, clean, and audit-ready.
Meet productivity and quality performance expectations while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Review and fulfill special customer or management requests that fall outside standard picking and fulfillment processes.
Handle priority, rush, exception-based, or customized orders requiring additional attention and coordination.
Follow unique customer instructions related to product selection, inspection, packaging, labeling, or shipment preparation.
Escalate order concerns to leadership when customer expectations or service commitments may be impacted.
Ensure all special handling requirements are accurately completed.
Prioritize Ad-Hoc orders based on customer commitments and operational requirements.
Provide status updates and communicate progress on high-priority requests as needed.
Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance customer service and order fulfillment processes.
Serve as a final quality checkpoint for designated customer orders.
Maintain a customer-first mindset by ensuring products meet or exceed expectations.
Report recurring quality concerns and assist in identifying root causes.
Support quality initiatives designed to reduce customer complaints and returns.
Uphold all Critical Care Program standards and procedures.
Qualifications / Education
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous warehouse, distribution, fulfillment, inventory, or quality inspection experience preferred.
Experience handling customer-specific orders or quality-focused work is a plus.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull products up to 75 lbs. weight limits.

Ability to perform detailed visual inspections of products and packaging.
Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and operational conditions.
