Drayage Coordinator / Logistics Clerk Needed in Lynwood CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Drayage Coordinator to manage short-haul container movements between ports, rail ramps, warehouses, and customer locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in drayage logistics, container tracking, and coordinating transportation operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule drayage shipments from ports and rail ramps to customer locations and warehouses.
- Monitor container availability, free time, and last free day to prevent demurrage and detention charges.
- Communicate with port terminals, steamship lines, trucking partners, and customers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
- Track and trace shipments, providing real-time updates to customers and internal teams.
- Prepare, process, and maintain documentation, including delivery orders, bills of lading, and customs-related paperwork.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and data within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Resolve service issues, delays, equipment shortages, and operational challenges with urgency and professionalism.
- Collaborate with customer service, warehouse, dispatch, and billing teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of port and rail operations, container tracking, and drayage logistics.
- Experience coordinating drayage shipments and managing container movements preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; logistics or supply chain experience preferred.
