Position Summary
Youth Emerging Stronger (YES) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage the organization's day-to-day financial activities. The Bookkeeper will ensure accurate financial records, support grant and contract reporting, and assist with maintaining compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and funding requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and process deposits and bank reconciliations.
- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Assist with payroll processing and related reports.
- Track expenses and revenues by program, grant, and contract.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management.
- Support annual audits and preparation of required documentation.
- Maintain files and records in accordance with nonprofit accounting practices.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with budget tracking.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and funding source requirements.
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and external CPA.
- Assist with preparation of reports required by government contracts and grant funders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and restricted funding.
- Experience with payroll systems and reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with government contracts and grants.
- Familiarity with fund accounting and reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting annual audits and Form 990 preparation.
Compensation
Hourly rate commensurate with experience.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
