Servio Capital is a private real estate investment and property management firm with a multi-state portfolio of multifamily, HOA, and other real estate assets. We are hiring an on-site Controller to own accounting and financial reporting for the company and its related entities.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across a multi-entity structure (properties, HOAs, corporate, and related companies)
- Maintain the general ledger in AppFolio, including bank reconciliations, intercompany activity, accruals, fixed assets, and journal entries
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable and review coding for accuracy by entity
- Prepare property-level and consolidated reporting for ownership; support budgeting and variance review with operations
- Prepare workpapers and supporting schedules for the company’s outside CPA firm
- Review payroll registers and allocate wages to the correct entities (payroll is processed through a third-party provider)
- Maintain documentation and schedules that support multi-state tax and year-end compliance (NC, SC, TX, LA, and other states as applicable)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in real estate or property-management accounting
- Direct responsibility for month-end close in a multi-entity environment
- AppFolio accounting experience (general ledger, bank recs, and close), or comparable property-accounting systems with the ability to ramp quickly on AppFolio
- Strong Excel skills and clear written and verbal communication with ownership and operations
- CPA preferred
Compensation and benefits
- $125,000–$155,000, depending on experience
