Southland Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Superintendent to oversee and manage heavy civil construction projects from start to finish. The Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents and company quality standards. This position works closely with the Project Manager to successfully deliver each project.
- Manage and supervise all field personnel and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.

Coordinate daily construction activities to meet project schedules and budget requirements.

Develop and maintain project work schedules, manpower plans, equipment needs, and material requirements.

Oversee project startup, daily operations, and project closeout, including completion of punch list items.

Promote and enforce Southland Construction's safety policies while serving as the onsite safety leader.

Conduct regular jobsite meetings, communicate project updates, and distribute meeting minutes as needed.

Monitor project quality to ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and applicable standards.

Complete and submit daily reports, production records, and other required documentation.

Identify potential project issues, delays, or conflicts and communicate solutions proactively with the Project Manager.

Coordinate with owners, inspectors, subcontractors, utility companies, and other project stakeholders.

Submit employee timecards and payroll information electronically and accurately.

Foster a positive and professional work environment through effective communication and leadership.

Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman on heavy highway or heavy civil construction projects.

Experience with one or more of the following:
- Drainage systems

Water and sewer utilities

Roadway construction

Site development

Retaining walls
-
Concrete structures
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage crews.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficient with computers and able to complete electronic reports, payroll, and project documentation.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project schedules.

Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
