Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting the organization’s financial operations. Your expertise in accounting software, financial concepts, and data analysis will be vital in maintaining the integrity of our financial records. Duties
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting to verify account accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Prepare journal entries, conduct account analysis, and manage double entry bookkeeping to support month-end closing activities.
- Assist with financial data entry, spreadsheet management, and Excel data analysis to facilitate reporting and decision-making.
- Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by maintaining documentation and conducting internal audits as needed.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while managing customer service inquiries related to billing or account issues.
- Contribute to budgeting processes, credit analysis, and financial acumen development within the team.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally within logistics and freight forwarding.
- Familiarity with various accounting systems such as Cargowise and quickbooks.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and technical accounting standards.
- Experience working with financial software including Microsoft Office suite—particularly Excel for data analysis—and accounting tools like Xero or Sage.
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable management, account reconciliation, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
- Ability to handle high-volume data entry tasks accurately while demonstrating excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Previous experience in public accounting or internal audit functions is a plus but not required.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
