Sales Professional/CAD Designer/Estimator – Metal Manufacturing & Construction Sales

Old Mill Iron is a growing metal manufacturing company specializing in custom ornamental iron, aluminum fencing, driveway gates, handrails, fabrication, and construction-related metal products throughout North Alabama. We are seeking a highly motivated, goal-oriented, and technically skilled Sales Professional to join our team and help drive our next phase of growth.
This is not a typical sales position. Experince in the Welding/Construction Industry. We are looking for a professional who can build relationships, understand construction drawings and take-offs, communicate effectively with customers and operations, and consistently achieve sales goals.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain relationships with residential and commercial customers, builders, contractors, and developers.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
- Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, and take-offs to prepare accurate estimates and proposals.
- Create CAD drawings and layouts for customer approval and production requirements.
- Accurately measure projects and gather field information when necessary.
- Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the Operations Manager to ensure smooth project execution.
- Develop and implement sales plans, budgets, annual goals, and growth strategies.
- Track and report monthly sales performance, pipeline activity, and forecasted opportunities.
- Follow projects from initial inquiry through completion while maintaining strong customer communication.
- Identify new business opportunities and actively grow market share throughout the region.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of CAD design experience using construction-related software.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating and bidding experience in commercial construction, metal fabrication, or related construction trade.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, project specifications, bid packages, and architectural plans.
- Ability to perform detailed material take-offs and prepare accurate estimates and proposals.
- Experience managing commercial projects through the bidding process, contract award, submittals, project coordination, and closeout.
- Strong understanding of commercial and residential construction processes.
- Ability to identify project requirements, specifications, schedules, and potential cost impacts.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately measure and document project requirements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Important
This is not an entry-level sales position. Applicants must have hands-on experience estimating, bidding, and working through commercial construction projects. The ability to accurately read plans, prepare estimates, communicate with contractors and owners, and successfully move projects from bid stage to completion is required.

Compensation
This position offers a competitive base salary plus commission. The compensation structure is designed to reward high performance and provide significant earning potential for the right individual.
