Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Hotel Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this essential role, you will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and building systems to ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests and associates. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond promptly to maintenance requests, and assist with repairs across a variety of building systems while supporting the hotel's commitment to exceptional guest service.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and hotel equipment to ensure optimal operation and appearance.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems.
- Respond quickly to guest maintenance requests and work orders while delivering outstanding customer service.
- Complete repairs involving lighting, outlets, switches, faucets, toilets, doors, locks, windows, drywall, flooring, and other hotel fixtures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, water heaters, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, elevators (vendor coordination), and life safety systems.
- Conduct painting, carpentry, drywall repair, caulking, and other cosmetic repairs throughout the property.
- Maintain swimming pool and spa equipment, if applicable, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Utilize the hotel's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or work order system to document completed work, track preventive maintenance, and manage inventory.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs and inspections when necessary.
- Assist with room renovations, furniture installation, and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, OSHA regulations, fire and life safety requirements, and hotel operating procedures.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and be available for after-hours maintenance issues as needed.
- Maintain an organized workshop and ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hotel maintenance, facilities maintenance, apartment maintenance, or commercial building maintenance preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of hotel equipment and building systems.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and completing work orders efficiently.
- Basic carpentry, painting, drywall, tile, and finish repair skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals, equipment specifications, and basic blueprints.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, OSHA regulations, and fire/life safety systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with a guest-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other hotel departments.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as business needs require.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or EPA certifications are a plus but not required.
