The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Program Management and Administration, is looking for a Long Term Non-Permanent Payroll Technician/Timekeeper (Human Resource Technician 2) to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Statewide Administrative Services is seeking a talented individual who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, is customer-service oriented, motivated, enthusiastic and eager to work in an inclusive and empowering team environment to fill our Human Resource Technician 2 position in our Human Resources Office for the AMHS payroll team.
Under the general supervision of the payroll supervisor, this position will serve as the AMHS Vessel Timekeeper duties by creating all timesheets for vessel employees, researching previous rotation to configure hours on timesheets; reviewing/approving all vacation timesheets for vessel employees; creating vacation or make whole time sheets if one is not received; ensuring each timesheet is in accordance with union contracts, Policies and Procedures, and other regulatory documents; preparing timesheets at the direction of HR/AMHS Payroll; researching the status of any missing time sheets; contacting supervisors or employees to provide their time sheets; and submitting timesheets to AMHS Payroll for processing.
This position will also provide backup up duties for the AMHS payroll technicians on an as-needed basis.

The working environment you can expect:
Our office in Juneau is conveniently located at 3.5 mile, next to SEARHC and close to DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, a central location with plenty of parking and a view of the channel. In-state telework options are available if approved by the supervisor.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
Substitution:
One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
Special Note:
High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test).; 2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or 6) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university.
"Human resource" work includes experience in recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel, payroll, or employee or labor relations.
