Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to manage our drop-in shelter programs for adults experiencing homelessness. About the Role
The Shelter Program Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across our adult drop-in shelter facilities. You'll oversee day-to-day operations, develop and mentor staff, guide teams through crisis and de-escalation, and ensure every person who walks through our doors is met with dignity, safety, and compassionate care. This is a senior leadership position with significant community impact and agency-wide responsibility.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily operations of assigned drop-in shelter facilities in accordance with agency policy
- Hire, onboard, schedule, and evaluate staff, maintaining full coverage through scheduling and on-call rotations
- Develop and mentor staff through ongoing coaching, professional development, and clear performance expectations
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and implement performance improvement plans when needed
- Model and promote trauma-informed, harm reduction-centered communication and leadership
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and provide emergency coverage as needed
- Ensure facilities are safe, well-supplied, and operating efficiently
- Build and maintain relationships with county agencies, law enforcement, and community service partners
- Participate in Continuum of Care meetings, agency leadership meetings, and community stakeholder gatherings
- Serve on the management team and contribute to agency-wide strategic planning
- Keep the Director of Housing informed on operational, HR, and community relations matters
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in human services, including supervisory or team leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience serving individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and/or substance use disorders
- Applied knowledge of Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed Care models
- Strong crisis response instincts and sound clinical judgment in high-pressure situations
- Experience coordinating volunteers a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with people of all cultures and backgrounds
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
- Valid driver's license; some travel required

Schedule & Physical Requirements
This role requires availability for some evenings, weekends, and after-hours emergency response. Occasional travel is required. The position involves physical tasks typical of a shelter environment; reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
