We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Associate to join our team in Zeeland, MI. The ideal candidate will consistently meet productivity standards while maintaining accuracy and quality in all tasks. This role involves hands-on work with plants and production line activities in a greenhouse environment.
- Utilize handheld scanners to track products as they come off the production line.
- Support team members working with trays of plants.
- Inspect plant trays for quality and consistency as they come off the production line.
- Sort plants by size and maintain plant health and appearance by removing spent flowers and dead foliage.
- Participate in production line activities, including planting cuttings and tissue culture material in soil as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Coursework or certification in horticulture or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working in a greenhouse, nursery, or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and horticultural practices.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in varying weather conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to operate basic greenhouse equipment and tools.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for record keeping and inventory management.
- Ability to count accurately and read and operate a handheld scanner proficiently.
- Tolerance for dirt and soil, as the position is located in a greenhouse environment.
- Ability to speak English is required; Spanish language skills are beneficial but not required.
- Work is primarily performed in a greenhouse setting, with exposure to varying temperatures and humidity levels.
- Must be able to stand, walk, twist, bend, and lift (up to 20 lbs) for extended periods.
