The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, painting, and finishing equipment, structural components, machinery, and facility surfaces within a heavy manufacturing environment. This position ensures surfaces are properly prepared and coatings are applied according to established quality, safety, and appearance standards.
The ideal candidate has industrial painting experience and understands surface preparation, coating application, masking, and proper handling of paints, solvents, and related materials.
- Prepare metal, equipment, machinery, structural components, and facility surfaces for painting.
- Clean, sand, grind, scrape, mask, and prepare surfaces prior to coating application.
- Apply primers, paints, protective coatings, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Mix paints, primers, coatings, and solvents according to specifications.
- Operate spray guns and related painting equipment.
- Mask and protect areas that should not receive coatings.
- Inspect completed work for proper coverage, thickness, finish, and overall quality.
- Touch up and repair painted surfaces as required.
- Maintain paint booths, spray equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Properly store and dispose of paints, solvents, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
- Follow SDS requirements and established environmental and safety procedures.
- Use appropriate respiratory protection and PPE.
- Assist with general facility painting and maintenance projects as required.
- Maintain accurate records of materials and coatings used when required.
- 2+ years of industrial or commercial painting experience preferred.
- Experience painting metal, machinery, structural components, or industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of surface preparation and coating application techniques.
- Experience with spray painting equipment strongly preferred.
- Ability to properly mix and apply primers, paints, and industrial coatings.
- Ability to work safely around chemicals, solvents, and industrial equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and follow written work instructions.
- Experience within aerospace, forging, machining, metals, or heavy manufacturing.
- Experience with industrial protective coatings.
- Familiarity with HVLP, conventional, or airless spray equipment.
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling and environmental requirements.
- Forklift or aerial lift certification is a plus.
