Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Full-Time Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of dental hygiene practices. As a vital member of our practice, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental hygiene services, educating patients on oral health, and supporting the overall efficiency of our dental operations. Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and root planing, to remove plaque and calculus from teeth.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe and effective treatment.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to individual needs.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging technology while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, including handing instruments and managing dental equipment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. (We use Dentrix Ascend)
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Follow infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
- Manage inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring proper functioning of all tools used in daily operations.
- Support general dentistry procedures with expertise in pediatric dentistry when necessary, ensuring comfort for young patients.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
- Proven experience working as a dental hygienist within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry exposure.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and electronic health records management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
- Familiarity with dental equipment operation, X-ray techniques, and infection prevention management practices.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and patient education across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards aligned with HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Capable of managing medical records accurately while adhering to documentation review protocols and medical coding standards.
