Volunteer opportunity with a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization developing a sensory-focused children’s museum in Columbia, Missouri.
The Columbia Children’s Museum is currently in its development phase and is seeking additional volunteers to join a founding team of 17 volunteers. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of the museum before the opening of its permanent facility.
Volunteer responsibilities may include:
- Supporting exhibit and educational program development
- Assisting with STEAM, sensory, art, and family programming
- Conducting research related to children’s museums, education, exhibits, and accessibility
- Assisting with community outreach, partnerships, and local events
- Supporting fundraising, grant research, sponsorships, and donor outreach
- Creating and managing marketing and social media content
- Assisting with administrative and organizational projects
- Supporting website, technology, graphic design, or communications projects
- Helping develop policies, procedures, and future museum operations
- Providing additional support based on individual skills, interests, and organizational needs
This is an unpaid volunteer position. No previous museum experience is required. Relevant experience in education, early childhood, STEAM, arts, nonprofit organizations, fundraising, marketing, communications, business, accessibility, technology, or community engagement is welcome.
The position may include remote work as well as participation in local meetings, community events, pop-up activities, and outreach projects in the Columbia area.
