Peninsula Bridge is seeking an experienced, passionate, 8th grade Math educator for our
Saturday Academy at our Eastside College Prep site in East Palo Alto (September
2026-May 2027).
Schedule:
This is a part-time, on-site, two-days-a-month teaching role, from 8:30am-1:00pm on Saturdays, plus approximately 1 hour of administrative and collaborative work each week. There are approximately 17 total teaching days for the year. Pay: $75/hr for teaching; $35/hr for meetings and administrative work

Job Description
The 8th grade Math teacher will teach four separate classes of 18-20 students using the Peninsula Bridge 8th Grade Academy curriculum two Saturdays a month. The 8th Grade Academy math class consists of high school readiness Math (Algebra/Geometry). There is no curricula design required and only minimal pre- and post-planning! All materials and resources will be prepared and provided by Peninsula Bridge.
Classes meet twice per month during the academic year on Saturdays. Instructors are responsible for being well-prepared for all sessions and for reading all communications (lesson plans, email announcements, important field trip information and logistics etc.). In addition to teaching, there are site debrief meetings after each session, 2 training sessions outside of the regularly scheduled program time, and collaboration with the site-based program manager. Instructors are expected to analyze student work and assessments to inform their teaching. At the conclusion of each semester, instructors will provide an assessment and narrative comment for each student. Instructors are part of a collaborative site-based team with two to three other teachers, a Program Manager who is also a full-time Peninsula Bridge Staff member, and an Assistant Site Coordinator.

● Effective in developing confidence and motivation in young people
● Effective student group management skills that incorporate a growth mindset and positive behavioral interactions with students (PBIS)
● Effective in building a strong sense of community and belonging, and maintaining a positive rapport
● Ability to demonstrate cultural humility
● Highly developed understanding of child and/or adolescent development
● Creative, adaptable, and able to manage multiple objectives at one time, the ideal candidate must be nimble and proactive and have the ability to be responsive in the face of student fatigue or disengagement
● Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues, families, volunteers, and visitors
● Experience working with diverse learners
● Effective organization skills and attention to detail
● Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
● Bachelor’s Degree

Additional Information
● This is an hourly position. Compensation is: $75/hr. for Direct Teaching Hours and $35/hr. for Administrative Tasks (trainings, teacher meetings, assessment)

● We observe school holidays and in-service days. These are unpaid.
