Precious Cat is a leading manufacturer of premium cat litter products, and we're seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor to lead our maintenance department at our Cheyenne, Wyoming manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising a team of four maintenance mechanics while ensuring our production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The ideal candidate is an experienced industrial maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, developing employees, and driving continuous improvement throughout the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four maintenance mechanics.
- Ensure production equipment and facility systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Utilize our Fiix CMMS to manage preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, equipment history, and maintenance documentation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and automated production equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and coordinate timely repairs to maximize plant uptime.
- Lead equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities with production leadership to support manufacturing goals.
- Maintain an organized spare parts inventory and order replacement components as needed.
- Analyze recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and equipment history.
- Promote a culture of safety, housekeeping, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in emergency repairs and provide technical support during equipment breakdowns.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Previous supervisory or maintenance leadership experience required.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as Fiix or similar software.
- Experience troubleshooting conveyors, motors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and controls is highly preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Forklift and heavy equipment experience preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Must provide basic hand tools.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, reach, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces as needed.
- Safely work around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to industrial machinery, dust, vibration, noise, and varying indoor temperatures.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to support production schedules and emergency repairs.
