Job Title: High School Youth Ministry Coordinator (Part-Time)
Summary
Mount Soledad Presbyterian Church in La Jolla is seeking a part-time High School Youth Ministry Coordinator who loves Jesus, enjoys building relationships with teenagers, and is passionate about helping students develop a lasting faith. This position combines youth ministry, teaching, mentoring, event planning, and discipleship in a welcoming church community.

Responsibilities
Ministry Programming
- Plan and lead the weekly Sunday morning high school class.
- Work with the Director of Children's Education to develop curriculum and teaching plans.
- Plan and coordinate events on a regular basis that encourage spiritual growth, friendship, and fun.
- Coordinate occasional service projects with high school students.
Contact Ministry
- Build personal relationships with every high school student.
- Attend students' sporting events, performances, and other significant activities when appropriate.
- Meet regularly with students outside of church for coffee or meals, following all church safety policies.
- Encourage students in their faith through authentic conversations and personal mentorship.
Spiritual Leadership
- Teach biblical truth in a way that encourages questions, discussion, and personal faith.
- Foster an environment where students feel welcomed, valued, and safe.
- Encourage students to take ownership of their faith and make thoughtful, Christ-centered decisions.
Connection, Communication, and Support
- Meet regularly with the Director of Children's Education for planning, prayer, and ministry coordination.
- Communicate with students and parents regarding upcoming activities and events.
- Coordinate announcements and communication related to the high school ministry.
- Work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers to support the overall mission of the church.
Qualifications
- Experience working with teenagers in a church, school, camp, or nonprofit setting
- Strong Christian faith and commitment to personal spiritual growth
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable teaching Scripture and facilitating discussions
- Ability to organize events and recruit volunteers
- Background check required

HOURS AND BENEFITS
Hours: This is a part-time position averaging approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation: $22 – 24 per hour, depending on experience
