Position Summary
Sigmund Cohn is seeking a skilled Facility & Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our Union team in Mount Vernon, NY. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys solving equipment issues, and can perform preventative and corrective maintenance in a manufacturing environment. Experience with welding or other hands-on trade experience is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on production equipment
- Diagnose equipment problems and implement effective repair solutions
- Respond to production maintenance needs in a timely manner
- Support equipment reliability and help minimize downtime
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed to support production operations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Experience maintaining, repairing, or servicing mechanical equipment
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing or machine maintenance experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals is preferred
- Experience with light electrical troubleshooting
- Experience performing general facility maintenance, including plumbing or carpentry repairs
- Background in skilled trades such as millwright, machinist, carpenter, mason, plumber, electrician, electronics repair, welder, painter, or related trades
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
