The purpose of this position includes:
Discovery and Career Planning
- The job coach demonstrates skills in employment development. Discovery process, community- based assessment, Person-Centered Planning, employment planning (including goals, transferable skills, support strategies), portfolio development.
Marketing and Job Development
- The job coach engages in; Community building (e.g., community mapping, networking), employer leadership, job development (e.g. researching, approaching employers, using portfolios, job carving, negotiating hours and wages), writing employment proposals, resources for employers (e.g., tax incentives).
Workplace and Job Analysis
- Finding potential work tasks, general info about the workplace, analyzing specific jobs.
Job Coaching
- Task Design and Training Task design and accommodations (e.g. job aids, assistive and information technology), task analysis, workers, and support team to develop and implement a plan and strategies for fading supports.
- Support Strategies Behavioral supports at work, structure, and visual supports.
- Natural Supports Identifying and developing natural supports, teaching coworkers to train and support individuals, ongoing relationships with employers (e.g. communications, negotiating job enhancements.
Job Coaches are to provide documentation of incidences, health, and safety practices, and program information in adherence with company policies, practices, and local, state, federal, and CARF standards.
