Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Business Analyst / Databricks Developer to support finance, operations, and executive leadership by delivering data-driven insights and analytics solutions. This role combines business analysis, financial planning, data engineering, and business intelligence to help drive strategic decision-making across the organization.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in finance and analytics, enjoys solving complex business problems with data, and is experienced building scalable reporting solutions using Databricks, SQL, Python, and Power BI.
Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Financial Analytics
- Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to gather requirements and define reporting needs.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, financial models, and variance analyses.
- Analyze operational and financial performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Create executive KPIs, scorecards, and performance metrics.
- Recommend process improvements through automation and data-driven insights.
Data Engineering & Databricks
- Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks.
- Transform, cleanse, and prepare large datasets for reporting and analytics.
- Build scalable data models that support enterprise reporting.
- Integrate data from ERP systems, financial applications, and operational platforms.
Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Design and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Create executive-level reporting with clear, impactful visualizations.
- Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and strong data governance practices.
- Automate recurring reports and streamline manual reporting processes.
Technical & Analytics
- Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data.
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functionality including PivotTables, Power Query, formulas, and VBA/macros (preferred).
- Develop Python and Pandas solutions for automation, data transformation, and advanced analytics.
- Support ad hoc reporting and analytical requests from leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in business analysis, financial analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Databricks
- SQL
- Microsoft Power BI
- Microsoft Excel (advanced functions)
- Python and Pandas
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and present findings to executive leadership.
Preferred
- Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle.
- Experience working in utilities, manufacturing, banking, or other large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem.
