Volunteer & Outreach Manager

Position Summary:
The Volunteer & Outreach Manager is responsible for the Center's diverse and dynamic volunteer program. The Volunteer & Outreach Manager cultivates relationships with corporate, religious, academic, community and individual volunteers to meet the increasing ongoing services and special project needs of the Center. A successful Volunteer & Outreach Manager utilizes best practices in volunteer management that results in a growing volunteer force with deeper engagement and commitment to the CMC mission. This position includes an option to work from home on occasion.
Accountability:
The Volunteer & Outreach Manager is accountable to the Director of Communications and Development.
Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree or other degree with equivalent experience.

Volunteer Management or related experience (2 years’ experience working with volunteers is required).
- Demonstrated ability to present effective and compelling messages to individuals, groups and the public.

Ability to effectively lead, facilitate, train and manage a group of individuals.
-
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality across CMC.
-
Be a creative, enthusiastic, highly motivated, self-starter.

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.

Excellent written and verbal/oral communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management
-
Recruit, interview, and assess volunteers to best use their gifts in service at the Center, for program services, special projects, or events.
-
Provide orientation and training to individual and group volunteers.
-
Identify and develop creative ways for partners and volunteers to connect with CMC.
-
Develop and implement solutions to address the Center's growing need for volunteer tutors.
-
Maintain supportive contact with volunteers to assist them as needed to foster their continued involvement.

Meet with staff to identify CMC volunteer needs and projects.
-
Ensure staff and board are adequately trained to work effectively with volunteers.
-
Collaborate to coordinate volunteers for CMC events and activities.
-
Identify and implement a volunteer stewardship initiative in order to increase volunteer life cycle.

Set strategic goals and measurement for the volunteer program and ensure organization-wide commitment to volunteers and the volunteer program.

Coordinate with Facilities to identify and carry out property improvements projects with volunteers and to assure their safety/security.

Assist with preparing birthday cards and mailings to celebrate milestones in hours and years of service.
- Tracking and reporting:

Maintain an accurate volunteer schedule with visibility for staff

Maintain updated files on all volunteers

Conduct criminal background checks on all volunteers

Provide record of service hours for each volunteer

Report the number, type value and impact of volunteers annually

Provide bi-monthly reports to the board of directors

Track and report out volunteer life cycles indicating trends and patterns
Outreach
-
Identify and participate in opportunities to share CMC programs and volunteer opportunities including speaking engagements, fairs, lunch-and-learns, open houses, and events.

Collaborate with community partners and businesses for greater awareness and engagement.

Develop partnerships with organizations and foster ongoing relationships.

Facilitate and engage staff members and the Outreach Team to maintain an active presence in the community through presentations, displays and volunteer fairs.

Create and implement a system to track outreach efforts including conversion.

Collaborate in the development of newsletter stories, electronic communication, messaging and outreach tools and strategies.

Use print, social media, media, tours and other means to communicate volunteer opportunities.

Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to execute the Center’s social media strategy.
General Agency Duties
-
Be able to explain CMC program information to students, clients, residents, volunteers and others in the community.

Maintain clean and organized facilities including the storage and archives.

Assist with the shared staff responsibilities for security of the clients/volunteers and building.

Perform other duties as requested/assigned.
