Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive primary and specialty care to diverse patient populations across various settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. Your expertise will help improve patient outcomes through thorough assessments, accurate diagnoses, and effective treatment plans. You will collaborate closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient-centered care while adhering to all regulatory standards and best practices.
Duties
- Conduct detailed physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status and identify medical issues.
- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances in accordance with DEA regulations, and manage medication therapy plans.
- Perform procedures such as suturing, IV insertions, catheterizations, and dermal filler injections when appropriate.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation, order entry, and care coordination.
- Provide patient education on health management, disease prevention, and wellness strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across specialties including gastroenterology, critical care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and more to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects to enhance clinical practices and patient outcomes.
- Manage acute conditions such as pain episodes, infectious diseases, or trauma cases within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment.
- Engage in telehealth consultations to expand access to care for remote or underserved populations.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, and follow-up care for patients in nursing homes or post-acute settings.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with valid certification from an accredited body such as ANCC or AANP.
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU/critical care, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, diagnostic evaluation techniques including sonography and laboratory testing.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in procedures like suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques.
- Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining excellent patient communication skills.
- Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center exposure is advantageous; experience working with special populations such as pediatrics or geriatrics is a plus.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law and hospice & palliative medicine principles is beneficial.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS are preferred.
