Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Radiation Therapist, where you will play a vital role in delivering precise and compassionate radiation treatments to patients undergoing cancer therapy. Your expertise will ensure safe, effective, and individualized treatment plans utilizing advanced imaging and radiation technology. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to life-changing patient care while working with cutting-edge medical equipment and techniques. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize treatment outcomes and uphold the highest standards of radiation safety and patient comfort.
Duties
- Deliver radiation therapy treatments using linear accelerators and other equipment, ensuring precise positioning, dosage, and beam delivery in accordance with treatment plans.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nurses to develop, review, and execute patient-specific treatment plans, with a focus on large volumes of SRS (Stereotactic Radiosurgery) and SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy).
- Conduct daily equipment quality assurance tests and calibrations to ensure functionality and compliance with safety protocols.
- Prepare patients for treatment, including simulation procedures such as CT imaging, mold creation, and immobilization.
- Monitor patients during sessions for reactions or changes, providing support and escalating issues as necessary.
- Educate patients and families on treatment processes, side effects, and post-treatment care.
- Maintain detailed and timely documentation of treatments, patient responses, and equipment logs in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, ARRT, and state regulations.
- Accurately account for and record all work hours to support honest time tracking and payroll processes.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement projects, and continuing education to stay updated on advancements in radiation therapy.
- Uphold radiation safety standards, including proper use of protective gear and monitoring for exposure.
- Assist in inventory management of supplies and equipment maintenance.
- Critical thinking skills include solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills.

Qualifications
- Certification as a Radiation Therapist from an accredited program; licensure or registration as required by local regulations.
- Proven experience operating linear accelerators, CT simulation equipment, and other medical imaging devices used in radiation oncology.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, radiation physics, and radiation safety procedures.
- Experience with advanced radiation techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).
- Familiarity with medical software applications for treatment planning and electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Critical care or acute care experience is highly desirable for managing complex cases requiring immediate attention.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and educate patients about their treatments.
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Aria, Athena) is preferred.
