CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN

James D Morrissey Co. is a family-owned and operated construction materials company serving Pennsylvania and the surrounding region. We are looking for an experienced Construction Foreman to lead field crews, coordinate daily construction activities, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company and customer standards.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of construction crews and field operations. This position will direct employees, coordinate equipment and materials, monitor job progress, maintain a safe work environment, and ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and company standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can effectively manage a crew, communicate with supervisors and customers, solve problems in the field, and maintain a strong focus on safety and productivity.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate daily activities of construction employees and equipment operators.
- Assign work to employees based on project requirements, manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Review construction plans, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Coordinate daily work activities with the Superintendent, Project Manager, customers, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Monitor job progress and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with company procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Conduct and participate in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure employees use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify unsafe conditions and immediately correct or report them.
- Monitor the proper operation and use of construction equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Coordinate the delivery, staging, and use of materials at the job site.
- Monitor material quantities and notify management when additional materials are needed.
- Inspect completed and ongoing work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate daily records, including manpower, hours worked, materials used, equipment, and job progress.
- Communicate project issues, delays, safety concerns, equipment problems, and other field conditions to management.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving job-site problems.
- Train, coach, and provide direction to employees.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site.
- Work with customers and subcontractors in a professional manner.
- Operate construction equipment when necessary and qualified.
- Perform hands-on construction work when required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of construction experience, with previous foreman or crew-lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a construction crew.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and make sound decisions in a fast-paced field environment.
- Ability to identify and address safety hazards.
- Experience operating or working around heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, walk, and perform physical construction work as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a full-time, field-based position. The Construction Foreman will spend the majority of the workday on active construction sites and must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment, trucks, and other construction operations.
