Position Type: Full-time (Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week) Location: In-person, on-site in Uptown Kingston, NY 12401 Compensation: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour (Equivalent to $41,600 - $47,840 annually based on 40 hours/week), dependent on experience. Performance-based raises can be anticipated.
About the Practice: Hudson Valley Glaucoma Care is a busy, state-of-the-art, single-practitioner sub-specialty ophthalmology office. We feature a distinctly non-corporate work environment focused on rewarding, direct patient care. This is a long-term position. No prior medical or ophthalmic experience is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, though prior medical or dental office experience is a significant asset. The ideal candidate will be extremely detail-oriented and able to multi-task comfortably under pressure. Primary Duties
- Managing detailed patient check-in and check-out processes, including greeting patients, scanning insurance cards, labeling and filing, updating demographic records, scheduling appointments and collecting payments, utilizing Microsoft Word, and Google Sheets.
- Scheduling appointments and managing incoming phone calls.
- Making outgoing patient reminder calls.
- Handling inter-office communications (requesting and transmitting medical records, faxing, and corresponding with external medical offices).
- Assisting with the maintenance of electronic medical records (EMR), utilizing Microsoft Word and Google Sheets.
- Facilitating diverse patient requests and administrative tasks as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Excellent skills utilizing a keyboard, mouse, and computer in an office environment. Basic facility with standard software systems is required, including Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets.
- Cognitive and Multitasking Abilities: Strong ability to work quickly with exacting attention to detail. Proven capability to juggle multiple, multi-step overlapping tasks efficiently (e.g., managing simultaneous check-ins, check-outs, and phone inquiries) and see them through to completion.
- Interpersonal Skills: Maintenance of a cheerful, outgoing, and supportive demeanor with elderly patients in a fast-paced setting.
- Professionalism: Excellent communication skills and the maintenance of a professional appearance.
- Logistics: Ability to commute or relocate to Kingston, NY 12401 before starting work.
