Job description:
Summary Residential Support Staff:
Full-time 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., Monday through Friday, to provide oversight of Martin House and assist with meals, guest interaction, set-up, and clean-up. Staff are responsible for maintaining the health and safety of previously homeless adults.
Responsibilities: Monitor participant movement. Maintain a safe, friendly, supportive, and inviting environment.
Work compassionately with those who have difficulty engaging with service providers. Effectively resolve conflicts among participants and de-escalate potentially violent situations.
Set up and monitor rooms for cleanliness, insects, safety and assist residents when needed. Ensure participants adhere to rules, especially regarding unsafe behaviors, and, if necessary, notify public safety personnel to assist clients who exhibit inappropriate or unsafe behavior.
Respond appropriately to emergencies.
Maintain daily recordkeeping and reports.
Ensure the facility is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
Provide the supervisor with information after each shift on the number of participants, any need for supplies, incident reports, etc.
Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work effectively with homeless individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Interest in helping volunteers and participants feel welcome while ensuring a safe environment. Ability to develop rapport, provide information, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues. Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently. Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with social services and/or homeless programs. Position Requirements: Successful completion of background screening. Reliable transportation. CPR/First Aid Certification. Work Environment
