Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and reliable Divert Driver to join our transportation team! Duties
- Operate a range of commercial vehicles including box trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, or tractor-trailers to divert freight or personnel accurately and efficiently
- Load and unload cargo using pallet jacks, forklifts, or manual handling techniques while ensuring proper safety procedures are followed
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Navigate routes confidently using GPS and route planning tools to meet delivery schedules and optimize efficiency
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, team members, and clients to coordinate deliveries or pickups and provide updates on progress or delays
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance needs, and delivery documentation
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during all driving activities
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving including shuttle driving, delivery driver roles, or route driving with a strong safety record
- Mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles such as box trucks, tankers, dump trucks, or heavy equipment operation skills
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and handle heavy haul or heavy equipment transport when required
- Familiarity with warehouse procedures including load & unload processes and forklift operation is a plus
- Excellent communication skills for clear interactions with team members and clients
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards relevant to commercial vehicle operation
- Physical ability to move freight using pallet jacks or other manual handling equipment; capable of lifting heavy loads when necessary
