Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a CNC Machine Shop Supervisor, where you will lead and coordinate the daily operations of our precision machining department. Duties
- Supervise daily machining operations, ensuring all CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines operate efficiently and safely
- Lead, train, and mentor machine operators on CNC programming, setup procedures, tooling selection, and maintenance protocols
- Review blueprints and technical drawings to verify specifications using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software; troubleshoot issues related to CNC programming and machine performance
- Ensure adherence to GD&T standards for precision parts manufacturing; verify tolerances using precision measurement tools
- Coordinate with quality control to inspect finished products for accuracy and consistency using tools like dial indicators, height gauges, and other mechanical measurement devices
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency; manage tooling inventory including hand tools, power tools, and specialized fixtures
- Maintain detailed documentation of production processes, machine maintenance logs, and inspection reports; oversee safety protocols including proper use of forklifts when necessary
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing machining processes for potential enhancements in productivity and quality
Qualifications
- Proven experience supervising CNC machining operations within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar control systems
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications
- Skilled in operating electrical discharge machining (EDM), CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and related equipment
- Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar for part design review
- Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of tooling setup, calibration with calipers/micrometers, and use of precision measuring instruments
- Ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly; experience with CAM programming is highly desirable
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus but not required
- Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing machinery
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations involved in machining tasks
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team while maintaining high safety standards
