Job Summary
Geneva Eye Clinic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our ophthalmology team. The Medical Scribe works closely with our physicians and clinical staff to accurately document patient encounters, support efficient patient flow, and assist with the clinical documentation process.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with prior medical scribe experience or someone interested in developing experience in a clinical healthcare environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient histories, examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) under the direction of the physician.
- Assist physicians with timely and accurate clinical documentation during patient encounters.
- Review and document relevant patient information as directed by the physician.
- Assist with maintaining an efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
- Prepare and organize clinical information for physician review.
- Enter physician orders, diagnoses, and other clinical information as directed and within the scope of the position.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, physicians, clinical staff, and other members of the practice.
- Perform other clinical documentation and administrative duties related to the position as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to learn and use electronic medical record systems and other computer applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information appropriately.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, technicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays, 8-12pm.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree or higher, particularly in a healthcare-related or science-related field.
- Prior medical scribe experience in an ophthalmology, medical, or other clinical setting.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical documentation.
- Coursework or educational background in healthcare, nursing, pharmacy, biology, health sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing or advancing a career in medicine or another healthcare profession.
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of some preferred educational qualifications.
