Position Summary
The Grant Specialist III is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and processing grant applications under the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP). This position ensures applications comply with program requirements, agency policies, and applicable regulations while providing exceptional customer service to applicants. The position requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
Essential Job Duties
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of grant applications to determine eligibility and compliance with TERP requirements.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of applications and supporting documentation.
- Evaluate applications against statutes, regulations, policies, procedures, and funding guidelines.
- Utilize standardized checklists and guidance documents to ensure consistent application reviews.
- Research discrepancies and communicate with applicants to obtain missing or corrected information.
- Document review findings, recommendations, and determinations in accordance with agency standards.
- Complete application reviews within established productivity and quality standards.
- Perform accurate data entry into grant management systems, databases, spreadsheets, and tracking logs.
- Maintain confidential electronic records and ensure compliance with records retention requirements.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance regarding eligibility, application requirements, and grant processes.
- Prepare correspondence requesting additional information and communicating application status.
- Support grant award processing and administrative functions related to funding approvals.
- Prepare reports and statistical data related to grant processing activities.
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Collaborate with program staff and stakeholders to resolve application issues.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and special projects.
- Train or mentor staff when assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience reviewing applications for completeness and compliance.
- Experience entering and maintaining data in databases or spreadsheets.
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and program requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines.
