LM Restaurant Group is a growing multi-concept hospitality company operating seven restaurant entities and a catering division serving four wedding venues across the Chicagoland area. Our portfolio includes Land and Lake Kitchen, Grant Park Bistro, River North Bistro, LM Catering, and more. We’re looking for a sharp, self-driven Accounting Manager to join our team and own the financial operations across the business.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions across multiple restaurant entities and our catering operation, reporting to the VP of Finance & HR. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-unit hospitality environment, works independently with minimal supervision, and is eager to leverage technology — including AI tools — to improve processes and drive efficiency. The right candidate will also serve as a key communicator across the organization and have the potential to grow into a team leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and period-end close processes across multiple entities including catering
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts across all entities
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support preparation of board-level financial reports
- Administer and maintain QuickBooks Online across multiple company files
- Coordinate with third-party systems including Toast POS, Bill.com, and Margin Edge
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, and other regulatory filings
- Support audit preparation and year-end close with external accountants
- Communicate regularly with restaurant managers to ensure financial accuracy and provide operational insights
- Partner with operations leadership to bring ideas and data-driven recommendations that improve the business
- Manage vendor relationships and communications, including payment inquiries and account reconciliations
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve internal controls, and incorporate AI and automation into accounting functions
- Independently troubleshoot issues and develop solutions without waiting for direction
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience; hospitality or multi-unit restaurant experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience required (multi-entity experience strongly preferred)
- Experience with restaurant POS systems (Toast preferred) and AP platforms (Bill.com preferred)
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with data analysis
- Knowledge of GAAP and restaurant-specific accounting practices
- Comfortable using AI tools to enhance productivity and improve accounting processes
- Self-starter who takes ownership, solves problems independently, and holds themselves accountable
- A genuine passion for the food & beverage industry
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — comfortable working with managers, vendors, and cross-functional teams
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities across entities
- Willingness to grow into a leadership role and eventually manage a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll processing experience (end-to-end payroll a strong plus)
- Experience with 4-4-5 fiscal calendar reporting
- Familiarity with Tripleseat, Cohesion, or Margin Edge
- Experience with catering or event venue accounting
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
