Job Summary
L'Auberge Provencale, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, is a farm-to-table restaurant and French country inn. We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in managing kitchen operations, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to create innovative dishes, maintain kitchen standards, and lead a team of kitchen staff in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and execution of dishes.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure high standards of food quality and safety.
- Oversee inventory control, including ordering supplies and managing stock levels.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
- Participate in the development of new recipes and menu items that reflect current culinary trends.
- Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed by all kitchen personnel.
- Assist in managing food costs and waste to maximize profitability.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
- Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation techniques, and culinary trends.
- Excellent supervisory skills with experience in team management.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Familiarity with inventory control processes and food service management practices.
- Bartending skills are a plus for enhancing guest experiences.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for hospitality.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification.
