Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately while adhering to all safety protocols, including aseptic techniques for sterile preparations and compounding medications.
- Provide expert patient assessment and counseling, ensuring understanding of medication regimens, potential side effects, and proper administration techniques.
- Collaborate with medical teams on medication management plans, pain management strategies, and medical treatments for diverse patient populations including pediatrics and critically ill patients.
- Manage pharmacy inventory efficiently, including stock levels of medications such as immunizations, ensuring compliance with storage standards and expiration dates.
- Utilize pharmacy software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to document prescriptions, patient interactions, and medication histories accurately.
- Perform patient care activities such as medication administration oversight, IV insertion procedures, and patient care planning in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support pharmacy technicians by supervising their work related to medication preparation, inventory control, and administrative tasks to maintain smooth daily operations.
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology principles relevant to diverse patient populations.
- Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems
- Demonstrated ability in patient service roles including medication counseling, immunizations administration.
- Skilled in inventory management practices for pharmaceuticals including controlled substances.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive health information.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive approach to patient care coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
