Full-Time Estate Administration Paralegal

What You'll Do
- Prepare and file probate and administration petitions with the New York State Surrogate's Court in various counties.
- Draft estate administration documents, affidavits, waivers, receipts and releases, and related pleadings.
- Obtain EINs and assist with estate and trust administration.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, accountants, and court personnel.
- Assist attorneys with the collection, valuation, and distribution of estate assets.
- Coordinate creditor claims, fiduciary accountings, and estate tax matters, as needed.
- Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and electronic files.
- Prepare correspondence and provide regular status updates to clients.
- Support attorneys with related estate planning and trust administration matters.
What We're Looking For
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in trust and estate administration.
- Working knowledge of New York State Surrogate's Court procedures and probate practice.
- A collaborative team member with the ability to manage their workload effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal case management software.
- Experience preparing fiduciary accountings and/or estate tax returns is a plus.
