To be considered for this rewarding opportunity, you’ll need:
- A current Illinois SLI License issued through ISBE
- Professional experience interpreting for children or adolescents in educational settings (preferred)
- Mastery of expressive and receptive American Sign Language skills
- Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, aides, and educational teams
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and ethics per industry standards
Key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and staff
- Interpreting classroom discussions, assemblies, and school events
- Assisting with IEP meetings or other related services as needed
- Supporting students’ social and academic growth through clear, accurate interpretation
