Level 1 Technician- Responsible for assisting with the installation of structured cabling, access control, and CCTV systems under the direction of a Level 2 Technician, Lead Technician, or Project Manager. A Level 1 Technician is an entry-level position focused on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to perform low-voltage installations safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with pulling, routing, and securing copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Assist with cable termination, labeling, dressing, and testing.
- Install J-hooks, cable supports, pathways, and other low-voltage infrastructure.
- Assist with the installation of access control devices, CCTV cameras, and related equipment.
- Learn to read and follow blueprints, floor plans, and cable pathways.
- Learn proper use of hand tools, power tools, and low-voltage test equipment.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Follow instructions from Lead and Level 2 Technicians.
- Assist with troubleshooting and correcting installation issues.
- Properly handle and protect materials, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all company and jobsite safety requirements.
- Develop knowledge of structured cabling, access control, and CCTV installation practices.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and progress toward a Level 2 Technician position.
