Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of customs brokerage operations. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, managing brokerage teams, and driving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a licensed U.S. Customs Broker with strong leadership, compliance expertise, and a customer-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily customs brokerage operations, including import/export entries, classification, and compliance processes
- Ensure adherence to CBP regulations and all applicable government agency requirements
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of customs brokerage professionals
- Maintain and enforce internal compliance policies and procedures
- Act as the primary point of contact with CBP and other regulatory agencies
- Review and approve complex entries, classifications, and duty assessments
- Monitor KPIs and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and ensure team training accordingly
- Resolve escalated customer issues and provide strategic solutions
- Collaborate with internal departments such as logistics, freight forwarding, and finance
- Support audits (internal and external) and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Qualifications
- Required: Active U.S. Customs Broker License
- 5+ years of customs brokerage experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, duty drawback, and trade compliance
- Experience working with CBP regulations and other government agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.)
- Proficiency in brokerage software systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a high-volume brokerage or freight forwarding environment
- Knowledge of global trade compliance and international logistics
