Responsibilities
- Offer peer-led support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and resilience
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management to de-escalate situations and ensure safety
- Develop individualized recovery plans utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward their goals
- Assist clients with navigating behavioral health services, including mental health counseling and addiction treatment options
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Mentor clients through ongoing social work practices, promoting self-sufficiency and wellness strategies
- Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care, ensuring comprehensive support tailored to each individual’s needs
Experience
- Lived experience with mental health challenges or addiction recovery, with the ability to serve as a credible peer supporter
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an approved program or agency
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management protocols
- Familiarity with behavioral health concepts, mental health counseling practices, and addiction counseling methods
- Experience in mentoring or coaching individuals through recovery journeys
- Strong communication skills, including motivational interviewing and active listening
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and case management
