Position Summary
The TennisFIT Performance Specialist delivers safe, energetic, sport-specific strength and conditioning programs that improve movement quality, athletic performance, injury resilience, and overall fitness for tennis and pickleball players. This position creates an inclusive member experience while supporting the Club's TennisFIT, Racquet Sports, and Wellness initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Lead TennisFIT classes and small-group training sessions each week, including 45-minute indoor and outdoor formats.
· Demonstrate proper technique, coach movement quality, and modify exercises for varying ages, abilities, physical limitations, and athletic goals.
· Design progressive tennis- and pickleball-specific programs incorporating strength, power, agility, speed, mobility, balance, and functional movement.
· Support junior athletic development, active-adult fitness, and seasonal player-development initiatives.
· Evaluate and update training programs based on participation, member feedback, and appropriate performance outcomes.
· Set up, inspect, clean, organize, and break down equipment; report maintenance or replacement needs to the Director of Wellness.
· Maintain attendance and participation records and encourage member accountability, retention, and long-term engagement.
· Collaborate with Racquet Sports professionals, performance coaches, and the Wellness Team on programming, events, demonstrations, and open houses.
· Provide exceptional member service and professionally promote appropriate TennisFIT, small-group, and Wellness programs.
Safety & Professional Standards
· Maintain a safe, motivating, inclusive, and professional training environment.
· Monitor participant technique, exertion, and equipment use; modify activities and respond appropriately to safety concerns or emergencies.
· Follow Club safety procedures, maintain current required certifications, and promptly report incidents or unsafe conditions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
· At least one year of group fitness instruction or personal training experience.
· Nationally recognized Personal Training certification through NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or an equivalent organization.
· Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
· Strong knowledge of strength and conditioning, functional movement, exercise progression, and safe group-training practices.
· Excellent motivational coaching, communication, organization, time-management, and member-service skills.
· Successful completion of required background screening and drug testing, and successful completion of assigned abuse-prevention training.
Preferred Qualifications
· CSCS certification, a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field, and experience coaching tennis or pickleball athletes.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
· Ability to safely demonstrate strength, conditioning, agility, and functional movement exercises and to stand, walk, bend, squat, and coach for extended periods.
· Ability to lift, carry, and move training equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat and changing weather and maintain a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and special events.
