About Us:
We are a fast-growing premium health-supplement brand headquartered in Beverly Hills. Having established strong national retail & pharmacy channels in the U.S., we are now accelerating our expansion into international markets. We need a hands-on, deal-closing Director of Business Development to own our overseas revenue line, with a primary focus on Latin America and secondary coverage of APEC markets.
The Role in One Sentence
Build our supplements business across international markets — from market entry strategy to shelf placement — end-to-end: prospect → pitch → close → launch → optimize, with LATAM as the primary growth engine.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, PD, Merch, Marketing, and Finance to ensure on-time product launches, compliant packaging (COAs, local labeling adaptations), and flawless in-market execution.
· Own the full overseas B2B sales cycle — from market analysis and distributor/retailer prospecting to contract negotiation, launch execution, and sell-through optimization — across pharmacy, mass retail, specialty, club, and e-commerce channels in international markets.
· Develop and execute a comprehensive market entry strategy, with Latin America as the priority region, and APEC markets as the secondary expansion focus. Identify and evaluate new market opportunities globally as they arise.
· Build and maintain a prioritized pipeline of 30+ qualified retail and distributor accounts across target markets; secure new distribution in 100+ incremental doors within the first 18 months while exceeding annual revenue targets.
· Lead negotiations on pricing, promotional calendars, slotting fees, and marketing co-op funds; finalize Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and annual volume agreements with international retail partners and distributors.
· Pricing proposals to be sent to the COO and Merchandising Team for review and approval.
· Navigate international regulatory landscapes — including local health authority registrations, import compliance, labeling requirements (e.g., ANVISA, COFEPRIS, INVIMA for LATAM; TGA, HSA, NMPA for APEC), and customs documentation — in coordination with internal Regulatory and Quality teams.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, PD, Merch, Marketing, and Finance to ensure on-time product launches, compliant packaging (COAs, local labeling adaptations), and flawless in-market execution across all target regions.
· Monitor sales performance across international markets and provide data-driven insights to optimize product placement, pricing, and in-store marketing strategies.
· Train distributor reps and local trade partners on product benefits, selling stories, and promotional mechanics; coordinate field merchandising to maintain shelf presence and compliance.
· Prepare weekly and quarterly dashboards (doors, velocity, churn, ROI by country/region) and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
· Stay ahead of international industry trends, competitor launches, and regulatory changes across LATAM and APEC; translate insights into new channel, market, or product opportunities globally.
· Manage relationships with local brokers, distributors, and regulatory consultants across target markets to accelerate market penetration.
· Evaluate and pursue emerging market opportunities beyond LATAM and APEC as strategic priorities evolve, maintaining flexibility to pivot into new geographies.
Must-Have:
· 5–8 years B2B/wholesale sales in supplements, nutrition, OTC, or CPG, with hands-on LATAM market experience.
· Existing relationships with LATAM retail buyers or distributors (Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile preferred). APEC connections are a plus.
· Proven track record of opening 50+ doors and driving $2M+ in annual retail revenue in international markets.
· Comfortable with supplement compliance (FDA DSHEA, local health authority requirements, COAs, import docs).
· Business-proficient Spanish required; Portuguese a strong plus. Mandarin or other APEC languages a plus.
· Bachelor's degree (international business background preferred).
Nice-to-Have:
· Experience launching U.S. supplement or wellness brands into LATAM or APEC.
· Network of regulatory consultants, import/distribution partners, or local brokers in target markets.
· Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Mercado Libre, Amazon Mexico, Shopee, Tmall, etc.).
· Experience with free trade agreements (USMCA, CPTPP) to optimize supply chain and pricing.
