Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform a variety of laboratory tests that support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, maintain laboratory equipment, validate test results, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver timely and reliable laboratory services. This position requires experience in Anatomic Pathology/Histology and a strong commitment to quality and patient safety.
Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher required.
- Anatomic Pathology (AP)/Histology experience required.
- Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required, or NYS Histotechnologist License for Anatomic Pathology.
- ASCP certification preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibility:
- Perform laboratory testing in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure accuracy throughout the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing.
- Maintain quality control records, instrument calibrations, preventive maintenance, and equipment verification.
- Identify, document, and resolve testing issues while reporting concerns to laboratory leadership.
- Review and verify test results, including abnormal and critical values, and communicate findings promptly.
- Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, validations, and regulatory inspections.
- Maintain inventory, monitor lot numbers and expiration dates, and ensure proper quality control procedures.
- Support compliance with CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission standards.
- Complete mandatory training, continuing education, and other assigned duties.
