The Avenue Hall is a newly opened event venue with a full commercial kitchen in Saint Paul, proudly serving our community with a beautiful space for weddings, celebrations, and special events.
Position Overview
We're hiring an independent contractor to support event setup, teardown, and kitchen operations on an as-needed, per-event basis. This is hands-on work for someone reliable, efficient, and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Set up event spaces before guest arrival (tables, chairs, linens, decor as directed)
- Tear down and reset the venue after events
- Clean event and kitchen areas before and after use
- Assist with food prep and getting dishes ready for service
- Set up and maintain the buffet line, including refilling and organizing food during events
- Leave all areas clean, sanitized, and ready for the next event
- Follow food safety standards in the kitchen
- Help load/unload supplies and equipment as needed
Contract Details
- Paid per event/shift (rate discussed upon hire)
- Flexible schedule based on booked events — mostly evenings and weekends
- Contractor is responsible for own taxes (1099); this is not a W-2 position
- No guaranteed hours; work is assigned as events are booked
Requirements
- Ability to lift 30+ lbs and stand for extended periods
- Available evenings and weekends based on event schedule
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Basic food handling knowledge preferred (or willingness to obtain food handler's certification)
- Prior event, banquet, or kitchen experience a plus but not required
Pay: $20.65 - $24.69 per hour
