CDL-A Tanker Driver Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Minimum of two years of recent, verifiable CDL-A driving experience
- Recent tanker driving experience required
- Valid tanker endorsement required
- Proven tanker experience of tanker inspections, loading, unloading, hose connections, and emergency procedures
- Ability to safely manage liquid surge and changing vehicle dynamics
Tanker Driver Responsibilities
- Safely transport non-hazardous liquid bulk freight
- Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections
- Inspect tanks, valves, hoses, fittings, seals, and safety equipment
- Follow all loading, unloading, product-handling, and customer procedures
- Verify shipping documents, bills of lading, and product information
- Comply with DOT, FMCSA, terminal, and customer safety requirements
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and delivery documentation
- Immediately report equipment concerns, spills, leaks, or safety issues
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, terminal personnel, and customers
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, service, and regulatory compliance
