In this vital role, you will be the friendly face welcoming patients, managing appointments, and assisting with clinical procedures. Your expertise in patient care, medical records, and optical systems will ensure a smooth, efficient experience for every individual who walks through our doors. Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and efficiently manage check-in and check-out processes using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Collect comprehensive patient intake information, including medical history, current symptoms, and insurance details
- Assist with ophthalmic examinations by performing preliminary tests, including visual field assessments, OCT scans, Tonometry, IOP, Retinal photos plus more
- Assist with IPL an RF in our Dry Eye Spa
- Teach patients how to Insert & Remove Contact lenses
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy standards
- Prepare exam rooms using aseptic techniques to uphold infection control protocols during clinical procedures
- Coordinate with the clinical team to facilitate smooth clinic operations and ensure timely patient flow
- Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, and managing patient communications
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR systems like Officemate is a plus
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, physiology principles, and ophthalmology procedures
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional patient care with empathy and professionalism
- Basic understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality practices in healthcare environments
- Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records, billing processes, and appointment scheduling
- Knowledge of pediatric care is beneficial for supporting diverse patient populations
